How to display a link preview in a publication?
When sharing a link on LinkedIn, you usually expect to see a visual preview: image, title and description of the article. Here is what you need to know to achieve this result with PerfectPost.
Why the preview does not appear automatically
The OpenGraph preview of a link (image, title, description) is generated solely by LinkedIn's native interface. The LinkedIn API, used by PerfectPost to publish or schedule posts from app.perfectpost.fr, does not expose this functionality. A link posted via the API therefore appears as plain clickable text, with no visual element.
This is not a PerfectPost limitation but a limitation of the official LinkedIn API.
Two ways to get a visual
Attach an image manually
From the PerfectPost editor (app.perfectpost.fr), write your post then use the "Media" button to attach an image illustrating the article. This is the simplest solution if you want to schedule your publication.
Write from the LinkedIn interface
On linkedin.com, open the post composer and paste your link. The preview appears automatically. You can then publish or schedule directly from the same composer: PerfectPost features (statistics, formatting, ideas) remain available through the extension.
Summary
Publishing method | Automatic OpenGraph preview |
|---|---|
No | |
LinkedIn composer (with or without the PerfectPost extension) | Yes |
To get a visual on a publication scheduled from app.perfectpost.fr, you need to attach your own image.
